About
The Technical Association of the Paper and Pulp Industry (TAPPI) is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led professional association serving the global paper, packaging, and forest products industries. Founded in 1915 by thirty enterprising papermakers, TAPPI has grown into an international community of over 7,000 members including engineers, managers, scientists, academics, and suppliers from around the world. As an ANSI-certified standards development organization, TAPPI develops peer-reviewed industry standards and Technical Information Papers (TIPs) that ensure products meet recognized best practices and help maximize manufacturing performance. The association maintains the largest repository of technical industry information globally, with over 20,000 technical papers, articles, and studies available through their e-library. TAPPI provides premier educational resources through more than 30 international conferences, symposia, and courses annually, with IACET-approved status ensuring quality in all educational programs. The organization publishes ten industry publications and specialty newsletters, including Paper360° magazine and the peer-reviewed TAPPI Journal, reaching over 40,000 professionals monthly. Beyond traditional paper and pulp manufacturing, TAPPI's expanding focus includes emerging technologies in bioenergy, biofuels, renewable chemicals, sustainability, and nanotechnology applications within the forest products sector.
